The term “gutta percha” comes from the Malay word “getah perca,” meaning percha sap. It is a natural thermoplastic material that is bioinert and biocompatible, meaning it does not stimulate the body’s immune system nor does it react with it. This material is suitable for filling emptied dental root canals and preventing bacterial infiltration.
